This site is dedicated to personally exploring and documenting the fascinating world of cellular automata and related discrete computational systems. This site is primarily inspired by the work of Stephan Wolfram of https://www.wolfram.com and his book A New Kind of Science published in 2002.
The specific focus of this site is to explore the implications of emulating Cellular Automata with Voxel Automata in relation to contributing potential insights to The Wolfram Rule 30 Prizes (Although the prize itself it not the goal!).
An example Voxel Automata rule emulating Cellular Automata rule 30 is shown below. The voxel structure contains the exact pattern of CA rule 30 in the XY plane (at Z=0). Additionally, this Voxel structure has the unexpected property that the outer bounds of two sides of the ‘shell’ contain the exact pattern for Cellular Automata rule 90.
The goal of this website is to identify at least one non-trivial Voxel Automata which successfully emulates each corresponding cellular automata. The study of the resulting bounding properties and orthogonal ZY plane (i.e. "Imaginary plane") will hopefully provide insight into new methods of predicting the evolution with less computational effort.
